I fully appreciate that the decision to come to counselling takes courage and is a significant committment in emotion, time and money.  Therefore it is important to me that you feel as fully informed and comfortable in making this decision as possible. I hope this website will answer many of the questions you have, but please don't hesitate to contact me for any further information you require.

About me

I am a registered Psychotherapist and Counsellor with over 10 years experience working with a wide range of issues.  As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UCKP), I hold full professional insurance and adhere to their ethical framework for good practice.  This includes a continued committment to ongoing supervision and training.  I have an independent practice in Farnsfield near Southwell, (NG22).  The location offers quiet, comfortable surroundings with a high degree of privacy.  Free off street parking is available.

How can I help?

The service I provide gives clients an opportunity to talk in confidence to someone who has a professional understanding of emotional difficulties.  My aim as a therapist is to offer a non-judgemental, supportive space, where you can explore what you are experiencing.  Over time, I support you to develop new insights, make difficult decisions or find a more comfortable "way of being in the world". I won't try to influence you but instead will respect your ability to make your own choices in moving forward.

What next?

Please contact me on 07952892458 or via the Contact Page.  During this intial telephone or e-mail conversation, I will ask for a brief description of what brings you to counselling and we can then arrange a first session.  This will be an opportunity for us to decide if counselling can offer what you are looking for.  You can get a sense of what it might be like for us to work together and most importantly, whether you feel comfortable talking with me.  It is a chance for you to find out more about the therapy process. We will discuss what you hope to achieve, alongside any concerns you may have. I will be open and honest with you if I do not feel I have the relevant professional experience to accomodate your particular needs and I will be happy to refer you to a more appropriate therapist. To reflect the vital assessment nature of this session, the usual fee applies.

There is no obligation to continue at this stage but should you choose to do so, you will be invited to book subsequent sessions with the aim of reviewing how things are going at regular intervals.  We may agree to work for a set period of time or on an open-ended basis.  Ideally sessions are arranged at regular weekly intervals, although flexibilty to allow for work and family committiments is usually possible.  Unless otherwise specified, all sessions last for 50 minutes plus 5 minutes at the beginning or end for adminstration purposes.
